NOMAarizona 2024 DESIGN COMPETITION
Lonyi Village Innovation Learning Center
Moyo, a remote district in Northern Uganda, is still grappling with the aftermath of the three-decade-long Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency that ended over 15 years ago. While many other districts are gradually rebuilding, Moyo continues to struggle with food insecurity, unemployment, and trauma. The civil war in neighboring South Sudan has exacerbated these challenges, forcing millions of South Sudanese to seek refuge in surrounding countries. As a result, Moyo’s refugee population nearly matches its local population.
Due to its remote location and transportation challenges, Moyo is an underserved region, presenting an ideal opportunity to address the needs of the community and improve the quality of life.
