Join our next tour of the newly opened and still under construction Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza led by Brett Elsasser, Willmeng Project Manager, and Brandon Sobiech, DIG Studio Associate Principal.
Dig Studio in close collaboration with Ritoch Powell and Lake|Flato Architects developed guiding principles with the City for the renovation that were based on previous plan outreach. These principles included the creation of an entertainment destination, providing a connected center, honoring Scottsdale Civic Center’s history, celebrating cultural influences and significant cultural impact of the surrounding institutions, providing daily layers and flexibility in programming and setting a new standard for high-performance design.
The project consists of nine acres of iconic open public space constructed over 50 years ago in the heart of downtown Scottsdale, Arizona. With a bond-funded $27.5 million budget, the Civic Center Plaza Renovation Project will upgrade the utility infrastructure, grading and drainage, and the landscape as well as provide a new decorative hardscape. Improvements will include new structural elements, such as two multi-functional stages, restroom facilities, a children’s play area with a mist-fog system, and a play area with a shade canopy.
