SUMMARY:September Coffee Talk - "The Realm of Awkward"
DESCRIPTION:We will be gathering to discuss The Realm of Awkward: How to navigate uncomfortable conversations\, the hidden language of code-switching\, and lonely experiences. The human experience within a world of many different views and experiences can occasionally lead us to awkward moments and even moments of feeling “othered.” It can be hard to navigate\, but in NOMA\, we know that “Our Strength is Our Diversity.” There is much to discuss about The Realm of Awkward within the human experience and we hope you join us at Spencer’s Place in Surprise!\n\nAbout Spencer’s Place: Spencer’s Place is a bistro named after Spencer\, a hard-working individual with Down syndrome. Spencer’s Place employs people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and aims to create a safe and stable environment for all to thrive while connecting with the community.\n\nWhat are Coffee Talks? Coffee Talks are a NOMAarizona monthly event. Order a beverage of your choice from rotating cafe locations around the valley. In Coffee Talks\, we come together to share\, listen\, and learn in a casual setting. This is a place where topics both light and heavy can be discussed welcomingly while learning from different perspectives and joining in community. We encourage all to join in the conversation as we explore many topics and coffee shops with NOMAarizona.\n\nFollow up: At each Coffee Talk\, the facilitators take notes. Individual stories and names are not included in the notes to maintain the confidentiality of each person. These notes are used to create a recap to post to the NOMAarizona website as a tool for others to learn from and observe new perspectives.\nIf you like to connect\, suggest a topic\, see our recaps\, etc\, click on this link: NOMAarizona Coffee Talks | Linktree\n\nRSVP here
