DESCRIPTION:Project Pipeline is a national program established by the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) to empower students of color to affect change in their community through design. Using their environment as the classroom and connecting students to local architects and planners\, we foster the next generation of design professionals\, civic leaders\, and change makers. We advocate for fellowship\, equity\, and excellence in design. \nWe want to connect students that are underrepresented in the design field with local professionals. Our program better prepares students for high school\, college and life beyond. Through Project Pipeline\, students grasp the significance of architecture in their daily lives\, as well as the broader cultural\, social\, and historical implications. They develop the skills and tools to contribute to their community critically and constructively. \nNOMAarizona Chapter’s Project Pipeline camp will be located in Phoenix and is a two full day program where we guide students through all stages of design using thought-provoking and fun exercises. Students investigate through drawing\, model building\, analyze through diagramming and research. By the program’s conclusion\, students present a fully realized project that addresses an issue in their city. \nAll materials and food will be provided for the students. \nQualifying students must be enrolled in 6th\, 7th or 8th Grade for Fall of 2024 \nRegister here

DESCRIPTION:Hello all and welcome to our final Coffee Talk of the Year!\n\nThe holiday season is approaching\, and we want to take the time to wind down and come together one last time before we disperse with our family and friends for the season! Our topic this month is about: Family\, Things that people experience & go through within Parenthood\, the Holidays\, and ‘What do coffee talks mean to you?’ at Hidden Gem in Scottsdale. We’d love to welcome and have you there on November 16th @10am to listen and share your knowledge\, thoughts\, and experiences with us and others. See you then!\n\nAbout Hidden Gem: Hidden Gem is a small cafe and eatery that serves various drinks\, light snacks\, and brunch located off McDowell Road within the Papago Motor Hotel.\nCost: It’s free! We just ask that you purchase a beverage or food from Hidden Gem as a way to support local businesses!\nWhat are Coffee Talks? Coffee Talks are a NOMAarizona monthly event. Order a warm or iced beverage of your choice from rotating cafe locations around the valley. In Coffee Talks\, we come together to share\, listen\, and learn in a casual setting. This is a place where light and heavy topics can be discussed welcomingly while learning from different perspectives and joining in community. We encourage all to participate in the conversation as we explore many topics and coffee shops with NOMAarizona.\n\nFollow up: At each Coffee Talk\, the facilitators take notes. Individual stories and names are not included in the notes to maintain the confidentiality of each person. SUMMARY:Home Cooking Away from Home
DESCRIPTION:Hey NOMA Family! It’s that time again for our annual Home Cooking Away from Home event! \nThis year we decided to take it back to the old school and make this a potluck event like we used to do back in the day! The idea is to share a dish that represents your unique culture or simply reminds you of home\, wherever that may be. There will be music from the one and only Grandmaster Boomer\, and Shepley Bulfinch has been so kind to host. This event is open to all NOMA members\, their family\, and anyone who would like to get to know us a little better. Our only ask is that you bring a dish to share. \nSee the link to the Google Doc to sign up to bring an entree\, dessert\, drink\, etc. \nFood sign-up list \nThis is  a link to label cards for your dish\, so that you can indicate key ingredients in case of food allergies. \nDish label cards \nThis is an in-person only event\, so please RSVP here\, so that we have an  idea of head count. \nParking is free. Refer to the map. Shepley Bulfinch’s office is in the south rotunda closest to Central and Osborn. \n
